The Metamorphosis
My re-design of Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosissees the novel as a vinyl record. It plays with the absurd nature of bureaucracy and communication.
Through the creation of the audiobook, reading has become as secondary focus, we are now able to passively read whilst multitasking. The application of vinyl as a listening device references the tactical and physical experimentation I have played with throughout this project. The act of putting on a record requires your attention as a listener, the physicality of taking the record from the sleeve and playing it commands your attention, it sits as a middle ground between the digital audiobook and the physical demand of reading, it felt like the perfect compromise for this concept.
